It’s been ongoing since the 70’s. I have to say, with my own now grown boys, using the 90’s, we had to intervene heavily and constantly to supplement at home. Especially when it came to math. Math was considered a “special,” so once a week, classes had the math specialist come in. Yes, they had another 30 minutes during the normal school dat was devoted to math. My father in law was a retired NY City school math teacher, so we were fortunate.

I was lucky that I went to a school that was not only outstanding, but also several years behind the times when it came to progressive education theories.

I was extremely fortunate, but then again, I went to school in the 60’s.

I was an 80’s kid & my schools put forth some very impressive minds devoted to public service & family. We also got to witness a mind that was truly genius develop just down the block, there’s actually a movie about her mathematical exploits.
